MAKE PLANT MUSIC
An innovative application that bridges nature and technology, allowing users to hear the electrical impulses of plants converted into beautiful, ambient soundscapes through proprietary hardware.
The idea
Data Garden created groundbreaking hardware that could detect and measure plant biodata, but they needed a mobile experience that would make this technology accessible and engaging for everyday users. The challenge was to design an interface that felt both scientific and magical, allowing users to connect with nature in an entirely new way while managing complex Bluetooth connectivity, real-time data visualization, and audio generation.
The solution
A complete iOS app from concept to App Store launch. The interface featured organic, flowing visualizations that responded to plant electrical activity in real-time, creating a meditative experience. We built custom audio engines that transformed biodata into harmonic soundscapes, with multiple sound palettes and scales. The app included Bluetooth connectivity to the PlantWave device, real-time waveform visualization, recording and sharing capabilities, and a library to save favorite plant sessions. We also designed the complete onboarding experience, teaching users how to connect their plants and understand the science behind the music.
Plantwave is a hardware device that translates your plants vibrations into music. You can select a variety of soundsets and even create your own music with advanced controls for music creators.

The illustrations were crafted with plant pulses and their musical translations in mind.
Shapes, movement, and colour were carefully chosen to reflect how living signals evolve into sound, subtle, rhythmic, and continuously changing, allowing each soundscape to feel both natural and expressive.
